Last New Years Day I spent the day at Duke Chapel for a morning of silence, reflection, and prayer. That day has continued to stand out in my calendar year of 2014 because it was so different from the others. A day of silence seemed so radical amidst all of my days of busy and noise. I realized after this day, there was something inside me that was nourished and satiated. By simply being still, listening to God, and trusting that He would reveal to me what I needed to hear, I was giving up my constant feeling of wanting to be in control of my time and my life. Even though a day of silence can't be in the books everyday, I am learning that the posture in which I live; one of openness and trust in a loving a good God, can align my heart and mind where I can freely live as who I was created to be.
