This past summer my friend Aerial asked me to paint something eye catching on her downtown storefront windows before her store’s grand opening. It was such a fun project for me because I love Aerial as a person. She’s a creative- so she had a vision, but she also gave me a lot of freedom in the design and execution.
When I walked into her store, I immediately knew where my inspiration for the project would come from because she had painted a funky and bold pattern across the side wall in her store. I took hints of the green and earthy tones for the color palette as well as the organic nature of the design into the design for the windows. As we chatted about her store and her mission behind the name ‘One for All Thrift’ she was passionate about providing clothing and items for everyone no matter their background or how much money they had in their pocket. What a beautiful and bold message and mission. This inspired the silhouette of the girl in the corner with her rally cry of ‘ONE FOR ALL.’
There was something so exhilarating about getting up on a ladder and having such a large area to paint. If you are in the Raleigh area, I hope you visit her store, One for All Thrift at 120 S. Wilmington Street #125.
